I was homeless. And this was a place I slept at night with a friend of my .
We where clean . We would be up early in the morning and Pack are sleeping bags . And put them away. I did some hair cuts outside of the Church. I remember one morning the black pastor said to the both of us we couldn't sleep there . We where not your average homeless people. We where young and responsible.

  • I've been a member since 1969 and loved it -- Fr Ian Davies, Rector, has a special gift -- humor. It makes his sermons all the more accessible -- and full of weekly wisdom. Wm Daniel.

  • This is a very welcoming place. Everything seems to be in place. There is a great sermon, a sermon that keeps you thinking the whole week. Father Davies is amazing !! He takes the time to greet each one of the parishioners at the end of mass. This is a place where progressive thinking and traditional worship joint in the most perfect "divine" way. I would really recommend this place to get to know the Episcopal church, they accept you as you are. You will mature in faith by coming and sharing faith and actions. They have a couple of active ministries for AIDS, homeless, etc. You will enjoy your time here. Come and visit this amazing home of God.

  • St. Thomas the Apostle church is one of the most soul-enriching experiences I have known in Los Angeles. From the parish to the members and the congregation and the choir, I've never met anyone who didn't make me feel welcomed and included here. They provide outreach and community support and education programs as well as spiritual support. Whether you are visiting the city or looking for a new place of worship or perhaps in search of community, you will not be disappointed.

  • If you think Episcopalians are "God's Frozen People," try St Thomas the Apostle Hollywood. I came here as a "church-hopper" a little over a year ago and never felt the need to look anywhere else. For me, St Thomas is truly a "thin place" where the presence of God is immediately palpable. The warmth and Christian love of Father Ian Elliott Davies and Deacon Walter S. Johnson are mirrored by the genuine friendliness of the parishioners; I think of them all, clergy and people, as my family because I know that, after decades of searching, I have finally arrived at my real church home. The parish motto is "Called by God to be a holy place where love is found, where all are named and where hearts are freed to change the world." At St Thomas, those are not just empty words.
